Veteran Assistance Day
With the assistance of the United Veterans Organization, and hundreds of volunteers from dozens of veterans and community organizations, Nassau County Veterans Service Agency will be conducting VETERANS ASSISTANCE DAY (formerly the Stand Down) on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 at the Hempstead American Legion, 160 Marvin Ave, Hempstead, NY 11550.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a Summer BBQ, VA Enrollment, support services, pantry items, clothing, haircuts, dental exams and one-on-one counseling provided by many representatives of our federal, state, and local agencies, including Helping Hands Dental Foundation.
Local providers will assist with shelter, case management, housing, medical and other necessary services to those in need. Nassau County Veterans Service Agency appreciate what you do and hope we can use “Veterans Assistance Day” to make all these services available to our veterans.
The Mission of “Veterans Assistance Day” is to provide essential critical services to our less fortunate veterans and to inform them of what services they are entitled. Veterans Assistance Day allows veterans the opportunity to receive all services provided free of charge. The services provided should not be at a cost to the veteran at the event or in the future. Veterans Assistance Day is designed to make sure that the best interest of the veteran is protected and maintained at all times during and after these events.
